The Kennett Area Y celebrated the completion of a $3.25 million facility expansion and upgrade with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that included members, donors and local dignitaries on Friday, September 6. Ms. Barsamian, Chair of the Kennett Area YMCA Board of Advisors, welcomed guests to the event and introduced key donors. The Kennett Y has increased in size by 25% and includes a zero-entry, warm-water pool; a family activity center; a half-gym and basketball court; a wellness studio; an arts studio with pottery kiln and additional health and wellness areas. Ms. Barsamian says of her experience:

Working with this organization has been an absolute privilege. The expansion of the Kennett YMCA has been years in the making. So many gave so much of themselves to make this event possible. It is an honor to serve with my fellow Branch Advisory Board members, as well as the Association Board of Directors. I am surrounded by inspirational people.”

More than 11,000 children and adults participate in programs at the Kennett Y. The Kennett Y offers health and wellness programs, child care, swim lessons, camp and afterschool programs and provides financial assistance to ensure that no one is turned away from the Y due to inability to pay.
