Students, graduates, faculty, and friends, we hope you can join us at this year’s MPA Dinner! This event celebrates our program’s continued success and the accomplishments of our 2013 and 2014 graduates.
Announcing this year’s Keynote Speaker: Ms. Bonnie Svrcek
Ms. Svrcek is the Deputy City Manager for Lynchburg, Virginia. She was elected in 2011 as the President of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) – only the second woman in the organization’s history. In her role as Deputy City Manager, Ms. Svrcek oversees numerous city departments including the City Assessor, Communications and Marketing, Financial Services, and Information and Technology departments. Ms. Svrcek’s career in local government began when she was hired as a Staff Assistant for the city of Los Angeles’ Washington, D.C. office. She also worked as a Budget Analyst for Fairfax County, and then later as an Assistant Town Manager for Blacksburg, VA.
Ms. Svrcek attended the University of Maryland, where she earned her B.S. in Housing and Applied Design. She holds an M.P.A. from the University of Southern California’s Washington Public Affairs Center. Most recently, Ms. Svrcek attended the Harvard Kennedy School where she completed the State and Local Government Excellence Executive Education Program.
