Last semester, four MPA students joined CLAS undergraduates and spent a day shadowing Villanovans in elected office. The program was a collaboration between the President’s Office and the Office for Undergraduate Students. The Pennsylvania lawmakers who spent the day with Villanova students were Senator Michael Stack, ’92 VLS; Senator Lisa Boscola, ’84 CLAS, ’85 MA; Representative Kevin Haggerty ’95 CLAS and Representative Dan Truitt ’92 COE.
Latesha Sims, one of the MPA students who went on the trip, had this to say about the experience:
“I attended the Harrisburg trip to learn more about how elected officials in PA interact with the Villanova community. I was especially interested in reaching out to people in order to learn more about government and its practical application in our daily lives. At the time I attended the trip, I was also looking for a job and thought having the opportunity to shadow legislators would be instrumental in determining which specific skills I need to acquire or sharpen as I complete the program.”
